#WeLoveYA - Letter to Sixteen Year Old Tanya Byrne

SURPRISE! Making a quick post on behalf on Sam from Headline, promoting LoveYA May (a month to celebrate YA fiction via their Facebook page, Pinterest and #WeLoveYA). Here in this special post, Tanya Byrne (an author I love and I really REALLY think you should read) writes a letter to her sixteen year old self.

Dear Tanya,

I don’t know what to tell you that you don’t already know. I swear I know less now than you think you know now, but here goes.

Before I say anything else, let me get this out of the way first: You’re not going to marry Jordan Knight. I’m sorry. I know Dad’s just died and I’m not trying to kick you when you’re down, but it’s true. Move on.

Second, you’re not fat. You’re not, so stop worrying about it. You’re missing stuff.

As for the rest of it, there’s so much that I want to tell you, but I don’t want to spoil it for you. And yeah, you’re gonna be pissed that I didn’t warn you about certain things, but you kind of have to find out on your own because each one of those things makes you into the person you’re going to be and I would never take that away from you.

I know what you’re thinking, I know that you miss Dad and you’re worried about Mum and Martin and you’re not sure you can do this, but you can. I can tell you that much. So keep going, because nothing that happens in the next twenty years will hurt as much, I promise.

Much love,

You x
