Would You Rather...? Book Tag

I’ve been tagged in something! It’s so rare that I get tagged and I actually see it and go “I think I can do this” and do it with the tag being fresh in my mind. Plus, with Brexit driving me round the twist (I seem to become Brexit Correspondent at my place of work - I blame reading BBC News and listening to Brexit podcasts like Brexitcast), I think this will be a fun tag to do.

I was tagged to do the Would You Rather? book tag by Steph from ALittleButALot (her post for this is here) and I have no idea who created this tag. So, as far as I understand it, I have the answer the question Steph has asked me, then I must create some questions and tag people to answer my questions.

No pressure!

Ok, let’s get my answers out of the way first!

WOULD YOU RATHER BE BEST FRIENDS WITH YOUR FAVOURITE CHARACTER OR YOUR FAVOURITE AUTHOR?
We start with a cutthroat question. The thing is, my answer for this change on a daily bases. Who would I want to be best friends with? I am very tempted to say favourite character, and I’m not sure why…

WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE LUNCH WITH THE VILLAIN OR THE HERO OF THE LAST BOOK YOU READ?
The last book I read was A Closed and Common Orbit by Becky Chambers and that doesn’t really have a villain in it. Not entirely certain who the hero is in this book either so will say hero on this one.

WOULD YOU RATHER ONLY READ BOOKS BY MEN OR WOMEN?
I actually don’t think much about the sex of the author. I just get the books that grab me. But I think I would say women out of the two as I think most of the female authors I know and read ar a little more ruthless compared to their male counterparts.

WOULD YOU RATHER RECOMMEND A BOOK THAT EVERYONE ENDS UP HATING OR HATE A BOOK EVERYONE KEEPS RECOMMENDING TO YOU?
Hate a book everyone keeps recommending to me. Wow - that was easier to answer than I thought. At least with this, I can say that I tried, whereas I would question why everyone hated the book in question then wonder if they hated me rather than the book.

WOULD YOU RATHER ONLY BUY PLAIN BOOK COVERS OR MOVIE TIE-IN COVERS OF BOOKS?
Plain. NEXT!

WOULD YOU RATHER ONLY OWN HARDBACKS OR EBOOKS?
Ok, this is actually the hardest question to answer as I read both. eBook because it’s easy and it saves on space but I do love a good, chunky hardback. I think my Other Half would say eBook to save on space. But I do love a good hardback… let’s say hardback and hope my Other Half doesn’t read this!

WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE A MAIN CHARACTER NAMED AFTER YOU OR A BOOK DEDICATED TO YOU?
It depends on if the main character was the villain or not. I think I would prefer the book to be dedicated to me. However, I am always open to a character being named after me on two conditions: they are either the villain or they died in a really horrible/hilarious way.

WOULD YOU RATHER HAVE TO ANNOTATE EVERY BOOK YOU READ OR HAVE TO FOLD THE PAGES OF EVERY BOOK YOU READ?
Do you mean dog-eared? If so, that one. I would be horrified to write in the margins of books I love (plus, how would I do that on eBooks and audiobooks?), though as a book blogger, this might actually be helpful for when I need to make notes for reviews/write-ups. But nope. I’l rather dog-eared.

And now with that out of the way, I need to create my questions. Ok, let me see…

Would you rather read 10 books in a whole month from a genre you can not stand or just one book in a whole month from a genre you adore?
Would you rather read a book with a model being the main character on the cover or an illustration of the main character on the cover?
Would you rather read books that have been published in the past 12 months or read books that were published the year of your birth?
Would you rather read a whole series now but out of order, or read a whole series but forced to wait several years to read the next instalment?
Would you read a book that you knew is going to end on a huge cliffhanger or read a book that you knew is going to end with your heart broken?
Would you rather have a character named after you who dies a horrible, gory death or have a character named after you who dies a funny, surreal death?
Would you rather lose the ability to read new books or lose the ability to reread books?
Would you rather have your favourite book adapted badly into a movie that everyone will see or have it adapted wonderfully into a radio show that no one will hear?

Ok, I need to tag people. Let’s see… going to pick the first three on my Twitter feed… Ok, am tagging Justine from I Should Read That, Nikola from Breathing Through Pages and Jenn from JennieLy

Go forth and have fun!
