Well, if I have scared self into writing about my ending TBR (in all formats), maybe I should write one about my Reread TBR that I would like to read so it’s long. Plus, I did say to self I would try and read more rereads as I do enjoying rereading my faves and, so far this year, I have read none. I am currently audiobooking a reread (The Diviners by Libba Bray), but as I said in my NeverEnding Audiobook TBR post, this is because I have been saying that I would do this series for YEARS but keep chickening out so my plan to do one book in this for book series a month to Halloween/Winter Solstice then do a post (still deciding if I should do one post per book or one HUGE post at the end!).
The more I think about this post (which I only thought of writing ten or so minutes ago at the time of writing), the more I realise that I have more books I want to reread than I first thought. As always in the past few NeverEnding TBR posts, I will put affiliate links to the titles (with a * next to them) so am playing fair.
The first title/series I am going to mention should come as no surprise if you have follow the blog for any amount of time: The Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix. This series is one of my favourite fantasy series and I usually reread the first title in the series once every few years (I did the whole series during the Dark Days of Covid Lockdown) so it is time. I could so easily do all the books in the series, but the titles I am being told the most are the second and fourth - Lirael* and Clariel*. I know - you’re shocked I haven’t said Sabriel, which is my favourite but these two are calling to me. Liarael is a wonderful book with characters I could so easily spend time with and Clariel is the black sheep of the family and yet, it’s the title I think about a lot as there are elements and details that I haven’t thought about before…
Another title I would like to reread is Mortal Engines by Philip Reeve*. Here is the thing: I have read this book twice and each time, I like the idea and elements, but I find the writing a tad dry for my taste. And yet, I want to do the rest of the series but I never get round to it. Now, my library audiobook app has the main four in the series on audiobook and I keep itching to try them, but I have other audiobooks that I need to get done for review or to get out of the any for one reason or another, but this series is high on my list and, one day, I will attack it. I think doing this series via audiobook will help me a lot.
The Winner’s Curse by Marie Ruthoski* has the exact same reason as Mortal Engines and The Diviners. I read this YEARS ago and I went “Wow, I really like this, I must continue with the series” and then never got round to it. I have the whole trilogy on my kindle so I have no excuse. But I haven’t felt that itch to reread it yet.
Let’s change the genre up and go murder. Yes, I do love a good crime and, as you know, I do enjoy a good Kathy Reichs and Tess Gerritsen. I am not a religious follower of either lady’s titles, (I tend to pop in and out), but these two were my introduction to crime/thriller in my teens as I have a huge soft spot for them both and so I would like to reread one or two of the their titles that got me. For Kathy relish, it was her debut titles (though neither of these were the first title I read in her Temperance Brennan series): Deja Dead* and Death Du Jour*. For Tess Gerritsen, the titles on my radar are the same: a mixture of the first titles I read: Body Double*, The Mephisto Club* and Harvest*. (I really could include And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie* here as well as an honourable mention in this crime paragraph. Same with The Hollow*.)
Am going to pop these three titles in this paragraph as I have no idea why I want to reread these (should I class these as honourable mentions?): The Know by Martina Cole*, The Gift by Alison Croggon* and Half Bad by Sally Green* One day… one day…
Let’s stop here as my reread TBR is LONG! And I sense you have thoughts and opinions on these titles alone. So, which of these must I punish up and attempt to reread this year and are they any I need to push back? Let me know (on here, Goodreads or StoryGraph) as I would love to know!
