As I told you a while back, I first heard of this at the Gollancz Book Blogger/Bookseller Event and it was one of the few books that made me sit up in my chair a little straighter. The idea of a modern day witch-hunt intrigued me hugely and hearing the author V.V. James (or Vic James, author of the Guided Cage trilogy [only read the first and need to read the rest!]) chat about her research and inspiration (#MeToo movement), I knew I wanted to read thus as/when I could. So when I saw I could get my hands on the eProof of this, I requested and popped it onto one of my “Pick My Next Read” polls (yes, I suck at doing and sticking to these polls, aren’t I?), I was glad it won (though it was a real close between that and From the Wreck by Jane Rawson) 

The small town of Sanctuary, Connecticut is a perfect little town where everyone gets along. But behind perfect hides some dark secrets as Detective Maggie Knight is about to find out. She has been asked to go to Sanctuary to investigate the tragic death of Sanctuary’s star quarterback. It was accident, a terrible accident. 

But the rumours start. Rumours that his ex-girlfriend killed him using witchcraft. She’s the daughter of a town’s witch and, even though she doesn’t have magical abilities, is that the truth? 

Bereaved mother Abigail will stop at nothing until she has justice for her dead son. Sarah, Abigail’s best friend, will do whatever she can to protect her daughter. And both women share a secret that could shatter the fragile peace of the town and their lives. 

Maggie must find out the truth and prevent the town from spiralling dangerously out of control. But mob mentality is slowing being to take its grip the town… Sanctuary no longer feels safe.

GoodReads Poll Alert

As you guys probably know, I am doing a huge "Pick My Next Read" polls over the next few weeks/months and am trying to do them all over the place, social media wise. And this is me doing it on Goodreads.

"But Andrew," I hear you cry, "why are you blogging about this Goodreads poll unlike the rest?"

Mainly for one reason and that's the poll's length of time. Most of the polls I have done so far have been on Twitter and I plan to do other polls on the Pewter Wolf's Facebook and Instagram, but these have been quite short voting times. 24 hours or less. But Goodreads is an experiment - it's on Goodreads and it's lasting for around a month. 

So, yeah, it's a bit of a curveball for me. Plus, I planned for this to be a mix of genres. Expect I did it and released, several hours later, how fantasy-heavy this was. Which works for my Year of Blood and Magic - well, more Magic than Blood, but I have plans to correct that soon... 

So, I wanted to show-off the poll and go "HELP ME!!!" without me tweeting/instagram/facebooking the poll once a day... No one wants that, right? 

So, here is the poll! Vote wisely as this will close on the 17th May 2019! Please, it's not Brexit-related, so it should be an easy choice... right?

Pick My Next Read's Back

You might be aware via my tweets and my other social media platforms that I am going to do a bunch of "Pick My Next Read" polls over the next few weeks - possibly up till Easter or early May - I haven't decided for how long. So, consider this my OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT!!!  

Basically, this will be me doing a mix of polls of what book or ebook I should read next. This will range from two to four choices, depending on the social media platform and how they do polls. I am still trying to figure that bit out. 

But I wanted to give you all a heads up about how am going to do it. So, I know I can do polls via Twitter (@PewterWolf), Instagram (@pewterwolf via Stories), Facebook (The Pewter Wolf) and I think I can do a poll on my Goodreads (goodreads.com/PewterWolf). 

But I might be doing silly, random "Pick My Next Read". Via my Other Half. And maybe my cat. 

Oh yes, you heard me. I might be letting my cat, Bagheera, pick my next read. And you can thank/blame Justine from I Should Read That for this idea. Actually, let me get the YouTube video up! 

I love this idea and feel this will be weird and fun! Hence why I decided to add this into one of my Next Reads. I'm just giving you all a heads-up that my next few reads are in YOUR HANDS so keep your eyes peeled on my social for my next poll! ... once I've finished current, last minute add on read of Becky Chamber's A Closed and Common Orbit (and heavens knows when will finish current audiobook of Priory of the Orange Tree!)...
