SMILE - Madonna's At Your Grandma's Front Door Again...

Sorry, I saw this on Twitter a few days ago and I couldn't stop laughing! My thanks goes to the Twitter of Michael Spicer (can't remember who retweeted this so I saw it, but thanks whoever you are!)

SMILE - Your Aren't A Disappointment

My thanks goes to Hannah on Twitter (@AitchLove) for this pic. I love it and I laughed for a good minute when I saw this!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone News!

As you are probably aware from other booky blogs, today is the release date of Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor in paperback. And, to celebrate this, Hodder is going all out!

Today at 5:30 pm UK time, Laini will be taking over the official UK Twitter feed of Daughter of Smoke and Bone - @SmokeandBone - so if you have ANY questions for her, tweet them to her and she might answer yours!

Also, Hodder is doing 2 competitions! The first (and my fave) is to win an early proof of Days of Blood and Starlight, the sequel to Daughter of Smoke and Bone, which isn't out in the UK till November (SO FAR AWAY!). All you have to do is tweet a 140 character review of the book & send it to @SmokeandBone and use the hashtag #SmokeAndBone. This contest is open to Sunday 8th July and some of the tweets might be used in online adverts, so you might see your reviews on websites such as Glamour.com.

One of my fave tweet review I've seen so far is from @MattLibrarian who has now given Hodder a idea for the cover for book two... Can you go one better?

Also, if you go to their website - www.daughterofsmokeandbone.co.uk - you can enter a chance to win a trip to Prague, where the book was set! I think it's UK entrance only, but not... check Terms and Conditions!

And, because the five teaser trailers for the hardback edition release wasn't enough (no, seriously! They did! I watched and loved each of them!), Hodder has revealed a new trailer... Enjoy!

GoodRead - Gin O'Clock

I'm pretty sure you guys know I am a fan of Twitter. Might be classed as an addict by some of you (well, I use it for stupid things and for the blog, so I'm on it most of the time!) and one of the great things about Twitter is the parody twitter accounts. Some are stinkers and others are hilarious! I follow @MrsStephenFry, @CherylKerl & @Queen_UK and all three of them have made me snort with laughter. And they all, out of nowhere, have books out! I read @MrsStephenFry's Diary last year (she has another book on Unbound, revealing the secrets to a perfect marriage…)and I know of @CherylKerl's book but haven't got my hands on a copy yet.

Now, the @Queen_UK. I had Waterstones' giftcard for Christmas and, remembered I wanted this book, I asked if they were in stock. Nope, not in that branch. So, checked on Kindle and treated myself to the ebook version (only to have a lovely person at Hodder ask if I wanted a review copy a week or two later…).

While sipping her drink of gin and tonic (minus the tonic), The Queen [of Twitter] decided to reveal her diaries and shows us how, quietly, she is ruling the world while trying to keep her family in check. All with a gin and bacon sandwich in hand…

Oh, @Queen_UK! I knew I was going to like this because of your twitter but, when I read a teaser where you called Catherine's (Duchess of Cambridge's) mother Mrs "Please call me Carole" Middleton, I knew I was going to howl at this book. And I did! There was always something that made me smile or snort unexpectantly with laughter. It was just fun to see One calling her weekly meeting with the Prime Minister his "ego-realignment", her throwing fancy dress parties for the Corrie Tram Crash, Eurovision and other events (only to lose Camellia who was last seen going outside for a quick smoke…), and her coping with her landmark trip to Ireland, her handling of the Obama's' visit and having to deal with the Middletons…

I do hope Hodder talk her Majesty into writing a sequel after the events that happen in 2012 (her Diamond Jubilee and the Olympics) as it would be very interesting (and probably rolling on the floor-worthy) to have her take on the world. Also, the PIW (it's been ages since I used that term - Person I'm With) think I should read the audiobook as my "posh voice" will add to the humour. If they can't, I'm sure Hodder could give the @Queen_UK some gin that will help change her mind…

Once Upon a Time Tweet-A-Long

Yesterday, I told you guys that I will watch Once Upon A Time's first ever episode on Channel 5 and I will be tweeting as it go. I warned you that it won't be good, so you have been warned... and here it is. Enjoy (or laugh)!

1h - "Sorry I'm late." I'm here now! So Once Upon A Time time/tweetalong
1h - CGI on the vanishing act! And now, present day USA. Where are we going, @onceon5?
1h - What an interesting way to get to know Emma Swann. A blind date! [Edit: well, a job but still...]
1h - GET HIM! HE Ruined a LOVELY DRESS!
1h - Oh, this is me playing catch up on my Once Upon a Time tweetalong. So, BEAR WITH!
1h - "I'm your son." WTF?!
1h - This kid knows too much. Not normal for a 10 year old. And she's having a panic attack. So much for a badass bounty hunter...
1h - Storybrooke, Maine. I know Maine is famous for its lobster. And Jessica Fletcher. Oh God, the body count!!
1h - "Let me talk to ... him." worried much?
1h - "For our child." I never thought Snow had a child. I imagined her as a teenager.
1h - "Because you're in this book." Be worried, Emma...
1h - Is Charming the Prince's first name or his surname? Anyone know?
1h - Time is a prison. It's sounds like Sapphire and Steel.
1h - "No more happy endings..."
1h - On it's 28th birthday... and how old is Emma?
1h - Oh. Not good. NOT GOOD!
1h - So, ladies & gentlemen. How is @onceon5 for you?
1h - And the first ad for @onceon5 is MIRROR MIRROR. Why am I not surprised?
57m - Now I think of it, the MIRROR MIRROR advert had music from @MarinasDiamonds... Me like!
57m - And we're back! Part two of four for @onceon5 Pilot episode. So... where were we?
56m - "Time's frozen here." Or the clock's broken??
54m - And which fairytale are you, Archie?
54m - His shrink? And Jiminy Cricket? Pardon?
53m - I knew there was a catch with this tree
52m - Apple cider? NO! DON'T DRINK THE CIDER!!!!
51m - OH! OH! She's the QUEEN! BADDIE ALERT!
51m - And who's the sheriff meant to be?
51m - AWKWARD!
50m - I love Emma's car. Does that make me weird?
49m - This show is different to how I thought it would be.
48m - "What's 28 years when you have eternal love?" awww! [Edit: or vomit. depending on you.]
48m - Ding dong the witch is... not dead! NOT DEAD!
48m - Who fancies a curse today?
44m - I wonder how many of you lot are wondering what the hell is happening to my twitter feed... blame @onceon5!
42m - Oh! A mix of characters. Fairy tales and real.
41m - OH! THE TEACHER'S SNOW WHITE!
41m - Oh, this feels like the Disney film. And she has a pear...
40m - And Emma gets a warm welcome...
39m - "What do you think stories are for?" ... "A way to deal with our world." I love these lines!
39m - I like this May more and more...
38m - And now they make the connection...
37m - And with Emma giving up Henry, history repeated itself with Snow and Charming...
36m - Just thought. We've seen Snow... so where's Prince Charming in real life?
35m - There is NO WAY he can be dead! NO WAY! ... right?
32m - Am saying nothing about David Tennant advertising Virgin Media's TiVo. But the thoughts that are running through my head...
31m - Fourth and final part of @onceon5. And we have a mock castle. Will the wolf huff and puff and blow Henry's life down?
28m - Hasn't Snow gone through enough?!
28m - True love doesn't break this curse this time...
27m - "Somewhere horrible..." Are you saying Maine is horrible? Good work @onceon5...
26m - Regina is acting like any mother is at the moment...
25m - "I will destroy you if it's the last thing I do..." Oh, repeat and repeat again.
25m - Mirror Mirror, On The Wall...
24m - Hello again May. AND THERE HE IS! PRINCE CHARMING... in a coma? What kind of fairy tale is this show?!
23m - And are they Little Red and Grandma?
23m - Creep alert for Mr Gold!
22m - "Welcome to Storybrooke."
22m - oh! is that it? Is it over? BUT I WANT MORE!!! @onceon5, PUT MORE EPISODES ON NOW!

So, my tweetalong for Once Upon A Time wasn't that great. But I think I will like this show A LOT!

Once Upon An Twitter...

This might be classed as a brilliant idea. Or a stupid idea. Or an insane idea. But, here goes...

This Sunday, the UK TV station, Channel 5, will be revealing the much-hyped and highly anticipated US drama, Once Upon A Time. I, for one, am very excited about the show. So, to randomly celebrate it, I am going to do a Tweet-A-Long to the pilot episode (I'm not doing this every week! This is a one-off!).

I sure we all have updated our Facebook, Twitter & Tumblr at shows and their plot twists and I thought I would, for a laugh, tweet my reactions to the show and answering the question we all asked: Does this show live up to the hype?

I thought, as a laugh, I would watch one of the videos Channel 5 have revealed in the run-up and give you a taster of what I had planned...

8 Seconds: "Sorry I'm late." You're not sorry. If you were, you would have sneak in, mouthing the words "Sorry! Sorry! Sorry!"
13 Seconds: Not sure about the special effects, but am loving the music. Will this be out on CD/iTunes soon?
23 Seconds: Badass Snow White!
36 Seconds: "I will not let you ruin this wedding." But she has! She just burst in! Plus, she is the "Evil" Queen...
47 Seconds: "But you shall have it." Because you forgot to get a gift receipt?

I'm not saying my tweets will be like this. More likely, they will be full of flirting, questions, screaming at the telly, and small (maybe not funny) jokes about a situation.

But I do hope you can join me. My Twitter is @PewterWolf13 and I shall (hopefully) start tweeting just before 8pm BST. If you can't make it, don't worry. I plan to put the tweets on the blog after the show.

So, hopefully, I will see you there tomorrow! Have a magical weekend!

Has This Happened to You?

Quick thank you to the lovely Girls In The Stacks twitter for this!

The 13 Sercets

Now, on Twitter a few days ago, I randomly won a copy of a book called "The 13 Sercets" by Michelle Harrison - all because I thought the cover looked cool (via @simonkids_UK)! I got it yesterday and, looking at it, I love it! It looks like a cool book to read. I mean, come on! LOOK AT IT!!!

Shame I didn't realise till after I won this competition that it was the final book in a trilogy - called "The 13 Treasures". But, because am weird, am going to risk reading this book as if I never knew it was in a trilogy because... well, it comes out in February and I want to read it before then. So, change in Books To Be Read - again.

Interested in this book or this series? Well, here's the trailer to tickle your fancy.

Must Get Off Twitter Before Stupid Hour

My twitter friends and I are weird. Seriously. Randomly, three/four of us (myself included and one was offline - I am dreading her reaction tomorrow) started a weird Dibs war on fictional characters in books that we want as husbands/lovers, if we were allowed.

Do authors know that readers do this?

Anywhere, the range of HashTags we used on Twitter was shocking and I wanted to share some with you...

#fictionalhusbandhunting
#planningmyweddingtomyfictionalhusband
#booksarefun
#ThisIsWeird
#ArgumentsOverFictionalPeople
#icantbelieveimplayingthis

& now, my fave!
#ThisStillSoundsKindaCreepyButOhSoFun

Random Twitter Moment (Doctor Who & Grey's Anatomy/Twilight Saga Related... Vaguely!)

I was chatting with a few people on Twitter about Doctor Who (so far, I like this new series!) and one mentioned something funny.

Doesn't the new Doctor (Matt Smith) look like Elizabeth Reaser from when she was in Grey's Anatomy (not in the Twilight Saga?)

She even made a photo to prove her point. What do you guys think?
