A little later than everyone else (am slow! I know!), but have you guys seen the covers for the final book in Becca Fitzpatrick's Hush, Hush saga, Finale? If you haven't, here is it:
Oh, I could SO easily pick at this cover (like I did with Silence) and figure out what it means. But I won't. The cover is, as always, very pretty and I can't wait to read how Becca wraps up the saga (yep, am fan of Becca's writing. Has no one noticed?)! Although, if I have to pick ONE thing, has no one noticed that Patch doesn't have wings... a clue, maybe?
Also, the cover has been revealed for Victoria Schwab's The Archived. If you have been with me for a while, you know that I simply loved reading Victoria's debut novel, The Near Witch so I am very intrigued on her next novel. So, might as well show you cover:
It's a very different cover from The Near Witch, but I like that it's different. But with both these books, they can't come so enough! I have to wait till October for Finale and early next year for The Archived.
As you guys know, I like Becca Fitzpatrick. She seems to get the whole Fallen Angel genre. And she seems to write fallen angels better than any other writer out there. So, fans have been excited over the third book in the saga, Silence and the secrets in this...
Following the climax of Crescendo, Nora finds herself on her father's grave. Expect she has been missing for three months and her memory is missing for the past five (aka since the start of Hush, Hush). So, what happened to her? What happened in those three months she was mssing? And if so, where's Patch?
Now, I finished the book Sunday night so am, at the moment, trying to get me head round it and understand it all. So, bear with me.
Silence is still as dark and as twisted as Hush, Hush and Crescendo and that's always a good thing. I wouldn't have liked it if it lose its edge in the dark side. And with this mystery over Nora's memory and why Patch is no longer around is interesting. Plus, the fact we're ahead of Nora on the whole Fallen Angels and Nephilim so seeing Nora figuring it out ALL OVER AGAIN was very interesting.
Now, there's a few things that might bother you guys. On one or two occasions that I did go "Wait! What?". There are so many things that go on that you do have to keep ahead of yourself. Also, there was a few moments where you want to grab Nora and shake her as she does something that you go "NO, YOU STUPID GIRL! DON'T DO IT!!!". One occasion I can think of when Nora returns home from hospital after being found at the graveyard and, within a matter of hours, she goes back to the graveyard without telling anyone where she was going and IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT! NONONONO!!!!
And the ending... let's briefly talk about that. With dates before Silence was released, Becca revealed via Twitter that there will be a fourth book in the Hush, Hush saga and this fourth book will be the final book in the series. Now, that I have read the ending of Silence, I can completely understand why there has to be a fourth book. It was left so open-ended and, at the same time, on a cliffhanger that there was no way fans of the series would have accepted the ending of Silence as it is to be the end of the saga.
Though Silence might not be my fave in the series, it still punches about its waist and give fans of the series more Nora and Patch. Plus, Becca Fitzpatrick is wonderful at writing, so I will be waiting for, what I hope will be, a stunning conclusion...
PS - when I bought both the Waterstones' (with exclusive chapter from Patch's Point of View) and the red WHSmiths at the PIW's (the Person I'm With) dad, and this is what happened...
Today, the third and final book in Becca Fitspatrick's Hush, Hush (or, as some people are calling it, Fallen Angel) Saga. And now, Hollywood Crush revealed the third and final cover.
Now, as a fan of the trilogy, I kinda wanted to see if this matches with what I had in my head. So, both Patch and Nora are there (EXCELLENT!), Patch has his wings (again, EXCELLENT!) and we have a dark sky...
You know what I find eye-catching, is the crashing waves. That, to me, is the most interesting. Also, it's a small detail so am not sure if anyone else sees it, but the sky. There are cloudy and stormy, but there is a beam of light that gives a feeling of hope.
But one question is bouncing round all the fansites (like Fallen Archangel & Mundie Moms) and fans: what has happened to Nora to have her lifeless in Patch's arms...?
Ideas, theories, suggestions and reactions to the cover below please!
Even since Becca Fitzpatrick Said the title of her third book in her Hush Hush saga was TEMPEST then she took it back, saying it didn't feel right for the book, readers of Nora and Patch have been waiting... and checking out Fallen Archangel... and waiting...
And now, we have a title!
And this was what Becca said:
At long last! I am thrilled to finally announce the title of the third book in the Hush, Hush saga! If you follow me on Twitter, or if you're a fan of my Facebook page, you've probably noticed there has been (just a little!) drama surrounding this title recently. Ever since I decided Tempest wasn't the right title for the book, I've been on the search for a worthy replacement. I spent weeks sorting through titles and, in the end, for one reason or another, none of them felt right.
I always thought the title of the third book would be loud— something a crescendo would build up to. And it made sense; the storyline of the third book is daring and twisty and oh so romantic. Which is why I was surprised to find, in the end, the title I chose isn't flashy or loud or culminating. Instead, it's a haunting word, quietly powerful, filled with mystery and beauty. A word that means to put doubt, fear and anxiety to rest. A word that is synonymous with stillness, secrecy and all that is forgotten.
The noise between Patch and Nora is gone in this book. They've overcome the secrets riddled in Patch's dark past...bridged two irreconcilable worlds...faced heart-wrenching tests of betrayal, loyalty and trust...and all for a love that will transcend the boundary between heaven and earth. Armed with nothing but their absolute faith in one another, Patch and Nora enter a desperate fight to stop a villain who holds the power to shatter everything they've worked for—and their love—forever.
With much pleasure, I give you the title of the third book...

Before I tell you guys my views on this book, sequel to the awesome, “Hush, Hush”, from the bestselling author Becca Fitzpatrick, let's chat about Crescendo...
After the events of Hush, Hush, Nora should have learnt that her life wouldn't return to normal. Not after she got herself a Guardian Angel, Patch (who is anything but angelic). But, recently, Patch has been pulling away from her, spending time with Marcie Millar, a girl who has made Nora's life hell.
Worse, an old family friend, Scott Parnell has returned to Coldwater. Although she finds his attitude infuriating, she finds something drawn to him. Although she has the strong feeling that he's hiding something.
With images of her murdered father haunting her, Nora begins to search for the mysterious truth, putting herself in dangerous situations. But some truths are better left being buried, but if Nora's not careful, the truth could destroy everything – and everyone – she loves and trusts.
I have just literally finished this book and ... WHAT THE HOLY CRABCAKE!?!?!?
This book was, maybe, more gripping than Hush, Hush. And more emotional. There were times that you wanted to get to the characters and shake them, but Becca writes Nora's turmoil and emotional pain almost perfectly. A few reviewers have said that this was like watching two friends tear each other to bits and you being forced to choose a side, and with reviews saying that, you know the the author wrote this with care, and maybe with a touch of glee. What better way to make you want something so badly? Give it to them, then take it away in almost the cruellest way. I take my hat off to you, Becca!
And, before I go any further, Vee! I think Vee was awesome in this book. I liked her in Hush, Hush. But in Crescendo, Vee was awesome. She had the best one-liners!
Now, as much as I want to go any further, the ending... WHAT THE CRABCAKE! A double twist!!! I can not wait for the third book in the series, Tempest!
Plus, I will be meeting Becca at the book-signing this coming Sunday so I can't wait to get a signed copy and maybe grill her over the ending!
SONGS AND BOOK TRAILER TIME! Remember, the song/s (not sure how many I want to add to this blog) are MY choices that I was listening to while I was reading. So, ENJOY!
With this song (which I LOVE!), I am going to say the last minute and a half is perfect (start at the 3 minute mark). The slowly building of the song... I will also add the clip where I heard this song and how perfect it is for Crescendo, then no more YouTube! Promise!
Now, all of the books I have been willing to kill over. Expect one that will be coming out next month and, hopefully, I will be going to a book signing when the author comes to the UK.
This book is CRESCENDO by Becca Fitzpatrick.
Now, the reason am writing this blog is because of the book trailer has been released and if I watch it one more time, I might scream at the book gods and demand an ARC at once!
I'm sorry, but I MUST HAVE THIS BOOK! Plus, I love the "International Bestseller That First Bought You Fallen Angels" bit. Some people will disagree but Becca was one of the forehead of the sudden uprising against vampires.
Plus, there's a competition on Fallen Archangel, the Official Fansite for Becca's Hush Hush series. It's the get an Advance Reader Copy of Crescendo (WANT!). So, to enter (and it's international, not just USA - JUST ENTERED MYSELF!), go to http://www.fallenarchangel.com/. The competition ends tomorrow so RUN!
PS - the song used in the video (love it!) was "Mighty To Save" by Don't Wake Aislin. And, because I love music, here's the song...
So, yesterday, the cover of Becca Fitzpatrick's "Crescendo" (the sequel to "Hush, Hush") was revealed. And yes, I was checking the internet throughout the afternoon. And here it is...
I really, really like this cover! I have high hopes for this book! And I hope, like the "Hush, Hush" cover before it, that this is the UK cover as well as the US. Will report on it when I have more details!
I was wondering this today at work about authors and how/why their work got popular and how?
Think about it, if you will. When Harry Potter became popular, wizards suddenly became the “In” thing to read. The UK publisher ever printed an Adult Cover for those “grown-up” fans who were ashamed to read Harry Potter with the kiddy cover.
Then Philip Pullman’s His Dark Materials trilogy came along and then, people started to read epic books that question religion.
Then conspiracy theories suddenly became popular due to one Dan Brown with his Da Vinci Code.
Then vampires became very popular due to Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight Saga.
And with every successful novel or series, there have been an upsurge of books that it linked in somewhere to the original. Look at vampires at the moment. Stephenie Meyer got popular, now we can’t go into the Young Adult section without seeing a supernatural or a vampire series waiting to catch your eye – ie. House of Night series, True Blood, MorganVille Vampires, etc.
Some people call these upsurges a fad. Some don’t, but they call them trends that will stay with us for quite some time.
So, with these authors that start a trend, are they trendsetters or were they at the right place at the right time, making them lucky?
I go with luck. But maybe the world of the internet has changed. I discovered two/three authors last year via podcasts and sites such as Twitter and YouTube. Both couldn’t exist without the internet. Whether people like it or not, the internet and social networking sites are playing a part in what books we decide to read or pay attention to.
So, what’s the next trend to hit the Teen section of a book shop? Well, by the looks of it, there are three contenders. We have the werewolves (and not a vampire in sight), Angels or dark human nature stories.
The best 3 examples from each of these 3 areas, I have read and reviewed. And they are, as followed:
Werewolf – “Shiver” by Maggie Steifvater Angel – “Hush, Hush” by Becca Fitzpatrick Dark Human Nature – “The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins
Each of these seem to be making headway in the Young Adults section and all these books have got attentions of, not only readers and other authors, but also by film companies. The film rights to Shiver has been bought by Warner Bros (?), Hunger Games has been bought by Liongate and an angel-based story Fallen by Lauren Kite (with its three unwritten sequels) have been bought by Disney.
Each book within these 3 areas have fiercely loyal fans (and I class myself as one of them), but I have a feeling that angels might have the edge over the other two areas over the course of this year.
But whatever happens, it looks like fantasy or paranormal will be hanging round in the Teen Section for quite some time to come…
I’m not 100% sure how to start this review. Not because of the book – I need to talk to you guys about this book! – but because I’m seemed to be suffering from a small case of writer’s (or, in this case, reviewer’s) block. But, here goes my review of "Hush, Hush" by Becca Fitzpatrick...
Nora Grey has been forced to move seats in her Science class. She’s forced to sit next to Patch, someone who seems to know her better than her best friend, Vee. And, against every better judgement she has, she slowly begins to fall for him…
But she’s been followed. Not only does she seem to see Patch everywhere, but she’s being stalked. After several terrifying encounters and as creepy as hell events, Nora’s not sure who to trust. And when she begins to take control, she discovers the truth is more unsettling than anything than she expected…
Now, let me talk about this book.
Like several other books I’ve discovered this year (Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, etc), I discovered this book and rushed through this book! I found this book dark and gripping which will make you speed through the pages. If the slow building love doesn’t get you, the action/scary factor will (I dare you not to be scared while reading the end of chapter 3 at a few minutes to midnight – I got a bit freaked out!)…
So, should you read it? If you want something dark and a tiny bit scary? Yes. If you want to read a love story? Yes. If you want to read a mix of both? Then, this book will keep you happy!
(Plus, is it bad that I just LOVE the shiny cover? Is that wrong?)
Sidenote: if I can do it, I will try and add two videos – one is a trailer for the book and the other is the author, Becca Fitzpatrick (watch the video AFTER reading the book. SPOILERS!) but, also, will add a tiny playlist of songs I rediscovered on my iPod that appeared while I was reading the book near its final chapters*…
*I can't make a playlist (Oh well...) so will show the 3 tracks and link them to youTube videos. Enjoy!
